Bermondsey-Huts-balloon2

Experience the great outdoors along with the peace and tranquillity our Bermondsey Huts site can offer.  Bring your own tents and camping equipment.

The Bermondsey Huts camp site offers a wonderful opportunity for time away from the madding crowd.

You can have a quiet, restful time, soaking up the sun and enjoying the country air or you could go for energetic hikes, sporting activities and nature studies.  In the evening enjoy time around a camp fire with a time of worship or just sit and enjoy the sounds of the night.

There are many good walks (and public houses) in this area of outstanding natural beauty.  Local towns provide the usual attractions for sport and entertainment.  Those who wish to include an explicitly religious dimension are invited to take part in the liturgy at the Abbey Church that can be seen from the Huts, one mile across the valley to the North.

What do you bring?

  • Tents and camping equipment
  • Food
  • Washing up kit, inc. washing up liquid, dish cloths, tea towels and washing brush etc.
  • Toilet paper (essential)
  • Activity materials

What will we find there?

The site is available for camping only; the huts provide kitchen, shower and toilet facilities.  You can think of the huts either as very comfortable, ‘hard-roofed tents’ or ‘very basic buildings’ depending on your expectations!  The only electricity is a solar-charged battery system to run the fridge, lighting and a couple of mains sockets (only very low power – they are not suitable for electrical appliances such as kettles, electric motors or heaters!) and USB ports for charging mobiles.  There is a mains water supply, but it is not suitable for drinking.

In accordance with the great respect for created things and in line the famous rule of St Benedict (480-540) the monks of Worth Abbey like to share and make available to others the estate on which they live. Since the 1930s the monks have made the Bermondsey Huts available to groups of people who would benefit from an inexpensive holiday or retreat in the countryside.

Please note we can only accept 1 group booking on site at any one time.
