We look forward to welcoming you to Worth Abbey Retreat Centre both former guests and inviting new guests! Whether you are looking for a themed, silent or space for a self-guided retreat – see our Retreat Programme for details, or maybe you are a group leader wishing to organise your own retreat?

Contact us to discuss your requirements.

At Worth Abbey we offer the opportunity to rest, refresh and reflect whilst staying in our purpose-built retreat centre.  While many monasteries have a Monastery Guest House in which to offer hospitality, at Worth we also have the Retreat Centre, which offers comfortable accommodation along with second to none hospitality.

Worth Abbey Retreat Centre, welcomes guests from all faiths and none for residential or day retreats. You are invited to peruse our programme of retreats, led by a member of the Monastic Community or specially selected lay collaborators or we can facilitate groups who wish to lead their own event.

If you seek a closer relationship with God, within the setting of a Catholic monastic community, you are most welcome.  We hope to have something to offer all who are seeking God in the uncertainties of human life.

St Bruno’s

_DSC8948 (Large)

St Bruno’s is unlike most other retreat houses, you will not just be staying in a pleasant building but also sharing in the experience of a living, working Christian community.  The house comprises a comfortable sitting room with a dining area and a small library/meeting room and an additional meeting room/quiet space.  There is also a small garden and patio area.  The bedrooms are divided between the ground and first floors; and include an accessible room with en-suite bathroom facilities, on the ground floor.

There are 10 twin rooms, 3 single rooms and two triple/family rooms (1 double bed and 2 single beds), accommodating up to 15 (single occupancy) and 27 guests (with most sharing).   The majority of rooms are en-suite (2 rooms on the first floor have shared bathroom facilities).

Close to the Abbey Church, the retreat centre is a space where we share our own search for God with others who are also seeking God in their daily life.  It represents our commitment to respond to the spiritual needs within our contemporary and sometimes challenging society.  All guests, whether staying for a few days or visiting for the day, are invited to join with the monastic community in the daily office and liturgy in the Abbey Church.  Your time can be spent either in private prayer in the Abbey Church, reading or exploring the grounds – the Quiet Garden is well worth a visit and is perfect for prayer and reflection.

Compass House

We can accommodate day retreats for small, self catering groups (up to 35 in number) in Compass House.  Adjacent to St Bruno’s, it has a sitting room, dining room, kitchen and small garden.   You are invited to visit the Abbey Church (subject to availability) or join the monastic community for midday prayer.

Group Bookings

Groups may book our retreat centre to run their own self-led residential events.   All bookings are fully catered (breakfast, lunch and supper) and most dietary requirements can be accommodated, if advised in advance.

To assist with planning your weekday retreat, please note that this should comprise a minimum stay of 2 nights, arriving from 4pm on Tuesday and departing after lunch on Thursday.  Weekend stays are also for a minimum of 2 nights, arriving from 4pm on Friday and departing after lunch on Sunday.  Demand for weekend dates is always very high and we tend to have more mid-week availability if you are able to consider this.
