Whether you have been on retreat before or if this is your first tentative step, we would love to welcome you to Worth Abbey and The Open Cloister.  Our programme is detailed below (and updated regularly), we hope you will find something that calls to you.

Young Adults (18-35)

ADVENT RETREAT: ‘Waiting in Wonder’ – 1st-3rd December
A weekend of faith sharing and exploration, led by The Wellspring Community* and Worth Abbey’s The Open Cloister.
An opportunity to enter more deeply into the faith and to explore the person of Jesus Christ. The retreats will offer the chance of encounter with Christ in prayer through the Benedictine monastic tradition, with space for reflection, participation in the rhythm of prayer with the monastic community (The Divine Office) and Lectio Divina, walks in the beautiful Sussex countryside, and time for building community and friendships


*The Wellspring is a Catholic community seeking to live the Gospel with the Rule of St Benedict as a guide. Living a common life of prayer and service, they witness to the Kingdom of God in the city of Brighton.

 

Advent

Retreat

An opportunity to prepare during the season of Advent, a time of expectant waiting, for the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ as well as looking forward to his second coming and explore how to live between these two advents.

We do hope you’re not too engrossed in your sessions to take a break and enjoy some tea and homemade cake!

What do I need to bring?

Not that much really, your clothes (strong shoes or boots to explore the estate) a wash kit, along with your personal belongings.

We provide:

  • Bed linen
  • Towels
  • Breakfast- Lunch- Dinner
  • Teaching (where applicable)

Please note that pre-booking is necessary for every event in The Open Cloister programme.  Last minute bookings might be possible, depending on available space and cancellations.
